CM Omar Abdullah Concludes Strategic Pre-Budget Consultations for Eight Jammu Districts

JAMMU, January 30, 2026 – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today successfully concluded a comprehensive pre-budget consultation process with public representatives from eight districts of the Jammu division, underscoring a commitment to participatory governance and grassroots development.

Spanning the districts of Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, and Doda, the sessions were designed to move beyond mere formality, ensuring that the diverse needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are directly reflected in the upcoming fiscal framework.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the primary objective is to align government priorities with the practical insights provided by elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), stating that if the budget benefits individual constituencies, the entire Union Territory prospers.

During the deliberations, the Chief Minister assured representatives that every demand—ranging from road infrastructure and healthcare upgrades to the establishment of new educational institutions—has been meticulously recorded.

He noted that these inputs would be integrated into various funding streams, including the UT Capex and centrally sponsored schemes.

Addressing recent environmental challenges, the Chief Minister also highlighted the necessity of judiciously utilizing the ₹1,430 crore relief package earmarked for restoring areas affected by snow, floods, and heavy rains.

The high-level meeting, attended by Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary and other cabinet members, concluded with a pledge to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects while incorporating new, feasible suggestions to accelerate socio-economic growth across both urban and rural Jammu.
