SRINAGAR, J&K | JANUARY 24, 2026 – Continuing his strategic outreach for the upcoming 2026–27 fiscal year, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held extensive pre-budget consultations today with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from North and South Kashmir at the Civil Secretariat.
The high-level meeting, attended by cabinet ministers and senior finance officials, focused on shaping a budget that reflects local aspirations across districts including Anantnag, Pulwama, Baramulla, and Kupwara. Legislators submitted a wide array of proposals prioritizing infrastructure, healthcare, and education, while also advocating for enhanced funding in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
The Chief Minister reiterated his administration’s steadfast commitment to balanced and equitable development, ensuring that every region of Jammu and Kashmir benefits from inclusive growth and citizen-centric welfare initiatives.The discussions highlighted critical needs such as road widening, youth-centric employment schemes, and the establishment of fire stations in remote areas.
A significant portion of the consultation was dedicated to climate change mitigation and the expansion of irrigation networks to protect the region’s primary industries. Legislators also urged the government to tap into the untapped tourism potential of rural pockets to generate sustainable livelihoods.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured the representatives that their suggestions would be carefully integrated into the final budget document, emphasizing that the government aims for time-bound execution of projects to minimize delays and maximize public benefit across the valley.
