Cloudburst in Kathua’s Janglote area Kills 4, Injures 6; Infrastructure severely affected
Kathua 17th August :- Four lives were lost and six others were injured when a severe cloudburst struck the Janglote-Ghati region of Kathua district, causing massive damage at several different places. The torrential rain affected important infrastructure as well, such as a railway track, a part of the National Highway, and even the Kathua Police Station. Rescue efforts are being launched, with civil administration, military, and paramilitary forces deploying quickly to help distressed residents. The situation is being monitored closely as further information is awaited.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh condoled and stated that he had also spoken to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Shobhit Saxena, on hearing the news of the tragedy. Dr. Singh posted on X (formerly Twitter), ‘The civilian administration, military, and paramilitary forces have swung into action. The situation is being continuously monitored. My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
Local authorities are evaluating the level of damage while rescue teams are working to reestablish connectivity and bring relief to affected areas.
