CJI Justice Surya Kant Arrives in Ladakh to Inaugurate State-of-the-Art Judicial Complexes
Leh, Mar 27: The Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, arrived in Leh today for a landmark official visit aimed at fortifying the legal framework of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Upon his arrival, the CJI was accorded a high-level reception by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and the Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice Arun Palli, alongside senior military and civil administration officials.
The visit, marked by a ceremonial Guard of Honour and a traditional Ladakhi cultural welcome, underscores the judiciary’s commitment to expanding its reach into India’s most remote and geographically challenging terrains, ensuring that the constitutional vision of justice is accessible to every citizen.
During this visit, the Chief Justice is scheduled to inaugurate the newly constructed District Court Complexes at both Leh and Kargil, as well as the dedicated office of the Ladakh Legal Services Authority.
These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to modernize the regional legal infrastructure and streamline the delivery of justice. Complementing these inaugurations, a Mega Legal Services Camp and Awareness Programme will be launched to bridge the gap between the law and the local population.
Notably, this visit serves as a follow-up to the 2025 North Zone conference, as Justice Surya Kant is set to interact with 14 Corps Army personnel to address the specific legal concerns of defense forces stationed in the region, further strengthening institutional engagement between the judiciary and the military.
