CISF Honors Bravehearts of NALCO Damanjodi: Tributes Paid to Martyrs of 2009 LWE Attack
*DAMANJODI; 12 April 2026:- The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today paid a heartfelt tribute to the courageous personnel of the CISF Unit NALCO, Damanjodi, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on April 12, 2009.
These bravehearts lost their lives while gallantly thwarting a major armed Left Wing Extremism (LWE) attack aimed at NALCO’s explosive magazine and other vital national assets.
Their unmatched bravery and selfless devotion to duty remain deeply etched in the collective memory of both the Force and the nation, serving as a lasting legacy of valor that inspires future generations of personnel to serve with unwavering resolve.
In a solemn ceremony held at the NALCO Damanjodi unit, officers and personnel gathered to reaffirm their enduring respect for the martyrs. The extraordinary courage displayed during the 2009 operation remains one of the most decorated chapters in the unit’s history, having earned a total of 22 Gallantry Medals, including 06 President’s Police Medals for Gallantry (PPMG) and 16 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG).
This recognition stands as a testament to the heroic stand taken by the unit against insurgent forces to protect the country’s industrial integrity.
In honor of their sacrifice, the CISF also encouraged the public to support the families of fallen CAPF personnel through the “Bharat Ke Veer” initiative.
