LEH, Jan 29, 2026 — Marking a significant milestone for winter sports in the Union Territory, Chief Secretary of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, formally inaugurated the 3rd Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League today at the NDS Ice Hockey Rink in Leh.
The tournament commenced with a ceremonial puck drop led by the Chief Secretary alongside senior officials, including ASP Leh Rishab Shukla and Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh President Namgyal Wangchuk Gyapo.
Addressing a vibrant gathering of athletes and enthusiasts, Ashish Kundra lauded the organizers for their efforts in transforming Ladakh into a premier hub for winter sports and emphasized the growing participation of regional teams. He called for enhanced collaboration between stakeholders to elevate the championship to an international scale, aiming to attract global competitors to the high-altitude rinks of Ladakh.
Highlighting the social impact of such initiatives, the Chief Secretary noted that structured platforms like this league not only strengthen regional identity and community bonds but also provide vital opportunities for local youth to excel during the winter months.
