Kathua 19th August :- Ch. Lal Singh, Ex-M.P., along with Pankaj Dogra, President DCC Kathua, and senior leadership of the Congress Party, visited the far-flung flood-affected areas of the Kandi Belt and rural Kathua, including Panchayat Dilwan, where a cloudburst caused extensive damage to houses, shops, and a school.
The region is severely affected, with no road connectivity, electricity, or basic facilities, making life extremely difficult. No major relief work has yet been initiated.In village Godichak, the situation is particularly alarming. Rising water levels in Maggar Khud have led to massive destruction of agricultural land, loss of livestock, and complete damage to houses, putting lives at grave risk.Given the grim situation, authorities must immediately swing into action to provide safeguards and restore essential services.
Families of the victims should be provided ex gratia relief and adequate compensation on a priority basis.
