LEH, Jan 20, 2026 — Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, held a formal courtesy meeting today with the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) for the Union Territory of Ladakh, Mukesh Singh, in Leh.
During the interaction, Dr. Akhoon extended a warm welcome to the top cop and expressed his optimism regarding the modernization and strengthening of the police force across the region. The meeting served as an important platform for coordinating administrative and security priorities between the local council and the police department.
The discussions focused on a wide range of critical issues, including enhanced policing strategies, public safety protocols in the Kargil district, and various other matters of mutual interest. Dr. Akhoon highlighted the specific geographical and social requirements of Kargil, seeking a collaborative approach to maintain law and order.
In response, DGP Mukesh Singh assured full cooperation from the police department and expressed his intent to conduct an official visit to Kargil district in the near future to personally assess the security landscape and engage with local stakeholders.
