CBI Upholds Integrity: Delhi Inspector Arrested in Internal Bribery Crackdown

NEW DELHI, March 11, 2026 — In a significant move to reinforce its “zero-tolerance” policy toward corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested one of its own officials in a bribery case.

The accused, an Inspector posted in Delhi, was apprehended on March 10, 2026, following allegations of professional misconduct and extortion.According to the official press release, the CBI registered the case after receiving reports that the Inspector had demanded a bribe from a private individual.

The accused allegedly sought the payment in exchange for withholding action on a complaint purportedly filed against the individual within the agency.

Demonstrating that no one is above the law, the bureau conducted immediate searches at the Inspector’s residential premises, where they seized incriminating documents and electronic devices.

Following the arrest, the official was produced before a Competent Court, which has granted the CBI two days of police remand for further interrogation.

The agency emphasized that this action aligns with its core values of industry, integrity, and impartiality. As the investigation continues, the CBI remains committed to rooting out internal malpractice to maintain public trust in the premier investigative body.
