CBI Apprehends UP Gramin Bank Officials and Casual Worker in Bijnor Bribery Case

BIJNOR, February 01, 2026 — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Branch Manager and a Field Officer of the UP Gramin Bank in Sahaspur, Bijnor, alongside a private casual worker, for demanding and accepting an illegal bribe.

The arrests followed a trap operation after a complaint was registered on January 31, 2026, alleging that the bank officials demanded money to sanction a ₹5 lakh loan under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojna.

Initially, the Field Officer allegedly sought ₹40,000 from the complainant, whose wife had applied for the loan, before increasing the demand to ₹45,000.The investigation revealed that the Field Officer acted in conspiracy with the Branch Manager to secure the undue advantage.

During the subsequent enforcement proceedings, all three individuals were caught red-handed while accepting the ₹45,000 gratification from the complainant.

The CBI has confirmed that a formal case has been registered and further investigations are currently underway to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy.
