CBI Apprehends South Eastern Railway Junior Engineer in ₹10,000 Bribery Sting

BOKARO, March 17, 2026 — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Engineer (Electrical) stationed at Bhojudih, Bokaro, under the Adra Division of South Eastern Railway, for allegedly accepting a bribe.

The arrest took place on Tuesday following a coordinated trap operation. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting an “undue advantage” of ₹10,000 from a complainant, marking a swift conclusion to a case registered just one day prior.

The investigation began on March 16, 2026, after allegations surfaced that the site engineer had demanded a total sum of ₹15,000 to facilitate an electrical connection for a private company’s site office.

Following the complaint, the CBI laid a strategic trap to catch the public servant during the transaction. Beyond the initial arrest, the agency has launched extensive searches at both the official and residential premises of the accused to gather further evidence.

The Junior Engineer is expected to be produced before the Competent Court shortly as the CBI continues its deeper probe into the matter.
