CBC Multimedia Exhibition Inspires Youth Toward Entrepreneurship & Startup culture
UDHAMPUR – February 24, 2026:- The second day of the Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP), a multimedia exhibition organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, witnessed a massive turnout of youth at Udhampur today.
Students from ITI Udhampur and the Government College for Women (GCW) participated in the event, where they were meticulously briefed on the themes Startup India & Mission Aroma of the exhibition by Vikram Uppal, In-charge CBC Doda.
The Exhibition proceedings were graced by Nalini Pathania, Principal of Government College for Women, Udhampur, as the Chief Guest. In her address to the students, she emphasized the power of informed citizenship.
“Exhibitions like these are vital windows of opportunity for our students to understand the developmental landscape of our nation. She urged young women to look beyond traditional roles and harness the information provided here to become leaders in their chosen fields.
Vikram Singh, Lead Bank Manager (SBI), attended as the Guest of Honour and also served as a key resource person. Providing deep insights into the banking sector’s role in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, he encouraged students to explore startup ventures. “The transition from a job seeker to a job creator begins with financial literacy.
The banking sector, particularly SBI, is committed to provide the necessary credit facilities and mentorship to turn innovative student projects into viable business startups under various government schemes.
The Expert sessions featured specialized insights from other resource persons, including Sonam, Representative from the Handicraft Department, and Pooja Dutta from the Handloom Department. They highlighted the importance of preserving traditional arts while integrating modern marketing techniques.
They informed the participants about various subsidy schemes and training programs available to youth interested in the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir’s artisanal sectors, urging them to view these crafts as profitable career paths to choose the sector as foundation for their startup
Speaking on the occasion, Gurnam Singh, In-charge CBC Udhampur, who is overseeing the entire program, detailed the functioning of the department. He explained that the CBC serves as the primary communication arm of the Government of India, tasked with taking the message of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” to the grassroots level.
He reiterated that the core objective of the Udhampur exhibition is to inspire the youth to come forward and embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship, effectively shifting the mindset from being “job seekers” to becoming “job givers.”
The day’s events reached an enthusiastic peak with a spirited quiz contest organized by Vikram Uppal incharge CBC Doda, which tested the students’ knowledge about the exhibition themes. The program concluded on a high note with a prize distribution ceremony for the winners, followed by the reciting of the National Anthem, marking another successful day of public engagement and Information.
