BWWA Celebrates 32nd Foundation Day

Honors Veeranganas and Reaffirms Commitment to Welfare

Udhampur 19 September :- The 32nd Foundation Day of the Border Security Force Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) was celebrated with great solemnity at the premises of the STC Training Centre BSF in Udhampur.

Established on September 18, 1992, BWWA was founded with the objective of working for the welfare of Border Security Force personnel and their families, with a special focus on the social, economic, and educational empowerment of women. From its inception to the present day, BWWA has consistently performed its duties with a spirit of continuous service, dedication, and cooperation. On this occasion, a total of eight ‘Veeranganas’—(women whose husbands attained martyrdom while serving the nation)—were honored by the BWWA President. The day served as a tribute to their supreme sacrifice, with their families being assured that BWWA would always stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them.

The courage, patience, and resilience of these families remain a source of inspiration for all.The primary aim of BWWA is not only to support the families of martyred soldiers but also to empower and make self-reliant the families of disabled personnel, retired personnel, and their dependents.

Key initiatives include providing financial assistance to Veeranganas, offering scholarships and education loans for personnel’s children, creating employment opportunities for women in need, and facilitating quality early education through the Ankur Play School. The objective of all these efforts is to reintegrate into the social mainstream that segment of our society which has made immense sacrifices for the country and to inspire them to lead a dignified life.

Adding a significant dimension to the event, Dr. Anu Bala Chandel, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, delivered an informative session on women’s health, focusing on awareness about cancer and other prevalent diseases. The program concluded with a renewed resolve that BWWA would continue to advance its service activities in the future with the same energy, determination, and firm willpower.
