BUDGAM, Feb 8: In a major financial crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Budgam Police on Sunday attached a double-story residential property valued at approximately ₹50 lakh in the Humhama area.
The attachment was executed under the strict provisions of Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, marking a significant step in the department’s strategy to dismantle the economic foundations of drug smuggling in the region.
The property belongs to an alleged drug peddler identified as Irfan Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Ashraf Dar and a resident of Humhama. The action is linked to FIR No. 44/2020, which was registered at the Budgam Police Station under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act. By targeting the immovable assets of those accused in long-standing narcotics cases, authorities aim to send a clear message that the proceeds of crime will not be tolerated.
This latest seizure is part of a broader, sustained campaign by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to curb the drug menace by crippling the financial networks of peddlers and kingpins.
The police have once again appealed to the general public to come forward with information regarding drug-related activities, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital to achieving a drug-free society.
