The arrest took place during a routine patrol conducted by a team from the Beerwah Police Station in the Sadipora area, near Chewdara. Officers intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a nylon bag; a subsequent search led to the discovery of approximately 1.115 kilograms of a semi-grinded substance appearing to be charas. In addition to the narcotics, a mobile phone was seized from the suspect’s possession to aid in further technical investigation.
The accused has been identified as Adil Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Beerwah. Following the recovery, the police took the suspect into custody and registered a formal case under FIR No. 170/2025 at the Beerwah Police Station. Authorities emphasized that this arrest is part of a broader strategy to disrupt the supply chain of illegal substances in the district and protect the youth from the devastating effects of addiction.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse, the Jammu and Kashmir Police called upon the community to remain vigilant and support the “Nasha Mukt” initiative. Officials urged the public to provide timely information regarding suspicious activities or drug peddling in their neighborhoods, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
