Budgam Police Arrest Drug Peddler and Seize Contraband Near Railway Footbridge

BUDGAM, Feb 15, 2026 — As part of an ongoing intensified crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Budgam Police have successfully apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband.

During a targeted operation at a checkpoint established at the Bathar crossing near the Railway Footbridge, a police team from the Budgam Police Station intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Rayees Ahmad Mir, a resident of Mohanpora Ompora.

Upon conducting a thorough search, officers recovered 31.93 grams of a charas-like substance, which had been concealed by being wrapped in corn husk.

Following the seizure, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 35/2026 at the Budgam Police Station, and a detailed investigation is now underway to trace the source of the drugs.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and continue to urge citizens to come forward with any information that could assist in maintaining a drug-free community.
