JAMMU, February 14, 2026 — In one of the largest anti-narcotics operations in recent months, the Jammu Police and the 165 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered approximately 6.582 kg of high-grade heroin, valued at ₹40 crore, in the RS Pura sector near the International Border.
The joint operation was triggered during the intervening night of February 13 and 14 following specific intelligence from the BSF regarding suspicious drone activity over the Nai Basti Karotana and Baspur areas. Under the cover of darkness, security forces established a tight cordon, and at first light, two yellow-wrapped packets containing the contraband were discovered hidden in a wheat field.
The recovery, suspected to be a Pakistani drone drop, was formalized in the presence of a magistrate.Following the seizure, an FIR (No. 36/2026) was registered at the R.S. Pura Police Station under the NDPS Act.
The investigation is being spearheaded by SHO Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, with oversight from the SP Headquarters Jammu, to trace the source and intended destination of the massive consignment. Police are currently conducting a deep dive into both backward and forward linkages to dismantle the local network involved in this cross-border smuggling syndicate.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy, the Jammu Police have called upon residents, especially those living in border areas, to report any suspicious activity, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free society through robust public-police cooperation.
