JAMMU, December 26, 2025: In a significant move to enhance grassroots policing and community trust, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh presided over a high-impact Thana Diwas organized at Mahajan Sabha, Shalamar, today. Held in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, the event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including market associations, hoteliers, welfare committees, and local residents.
Accompanied by SP City North Vivek Shekhar and other senior officers, the SSP utilized the platform to directly address civic grievances and reinforce the vital partnership between law enforcement and the business community in maintaining the city’s security.During the interactive session, participants raised critical urban challenges, such as chronic traffic congestion on the Raghunath Bazar–City Chowk–Shalamar Chowk stretch and the need for organized roadside parking. In response, SSP Jammu unveiled several forward-looking initiatives, most notably the trial launch of the “KIRAYEDAR” web portal. This digital tool, initially for tenant verification, is set to expand to include mandatory background checks for shop employees, street vendors, and outsiders to bolster city-wide safety.
The SSP also detailed plans for an integrated CCTV network linked to a new PCR building and the establishment of a dedicated Cyber Department to tackle modern-day threats.Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse, the SSP emphasized that the police are aggressively targeting elements attempting to lure the youth into narcotics. He also addressed logistical hurdles like rising vehicular density, suggesting new one-way traffic systems and stricter labor verification processes. The event concluded with a call for proactive public cooperation, with the Jammu Police reaffirming their commitment to a transparent and responsive administration.
By fostering such open dialogues, the department aims to create a secure environment where traders and citizens can thrive through a shared responsibility for law and order.
