SRINAGAR, Feb 11, 2026 — The ninth day of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session was marked by high drama on Wednesday as all BJP MLAs staged a mass walkout in protest against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The opposition legislators expressed strong resentment over an alleged remark made by the Chief Minister during Tuesday’s proceedings.
The BJP members have demanded an unconditional apology, claiming that the language used by the leader of the House was beneath the dignity of the legislative institution. The core of the controversy stems from the Chief Minister’s reported use of the phrase “Inko juute pade,” which the BJP legislators termed highly offensive and inappropriate for a parliamentary setting.
Asserting that such comments severely lower the decorum of the Assembly, the opposition members disrupted the session with noisy protests before marching out. Despite the walkout and the heated environment, the session continued, even as BJP leaders maintained that they would not settle for anything less than a formal apology to restore the sanctity of the House.
