JAMMU, Feb 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir successfully concluded its week-long “Ravidass Jayanti Saptah” with a grand valedictory ceremony at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar on Sunday.
Organized by the BJP Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha, the event saw senior leaders, including J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma and Punjab BJP Vice-President Rajesh Bagga, paying heartfelt tributes to Sant Guru Ravidass Ji. The leaders emphasized that the saint’s timeless message of equality and his visionary “Begampura” model—a society free from fear and hunger—serve as the foundational inspiration for the current Union Government’s mission of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma highlighted that the policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government are a direct reflection of Guru Ravidass’s teachings on social harmony and human dignity. Echoing this sentiment, Rajesh Bagga lauded the Modi administration for according genuine respect to India’s spiritual icons, citing the renaming of Aadampur Airport after the saint and the Padma Shri conferment upon Mahant Niranjan Dass as landmark achievements.
Bagga also drew a sharp contrast with previous regimes, criticizing the long-standing trend of naming national projects after a single family while neglecting the diverse spiritual legacy of the nation. The program, which featured addresses from prominent figures like Bharat Bhushan, Sanjita Dogra, and SC Morcha President Dharminder Kumar, focused on the urgent need to connect the younger generation with the ideals of universal brotherhood and secularism.
Leaders noted that the philosophy of “Antyodaya”—serving the last person in the queue—is the practical application of the Guru’s teaching: “Service to humanity is the true service to God.” The event concluded with a detailed report on the district-level programs held throughout the week, reaffirming the party’s commitment to building a discrimination-free society.
