JAMMU, JANUARY 13, 2026The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir unit celebrated the festival of Lohri with traditional fervor and enthusiasm at its party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar today.
Led by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma and General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, the event served as a vibrant reflection of the region’s rich cultural ethos.
Leaders and party activists gathered around the traditional bonfire, dancing to the beats of drums and distributing sweets and nuts, marking the transition of the season with a spirit of collective joy and optimism.
During the celebrations, Sat Sharma extended warm greetings to the public, emphasizing that Lohri is a profound celebration of nature, life, and the tireless efforts of the farming community. He highlighted the festival’s role in fostering social harmony and keeping cultural heritage alive for the younger generation.
In addition to praying for a bountiful harvest and economic prosperity, the BJP President reiterated the party’s firm stance against terrorism, praying for lasting peace, stability, and development across the Union Territory and the nation.
Ashok Koul, addressing the gathering, noted that Lohri signifies the transition toward the auspicious Makar Sankranti, honoring the Sun God for warmth and vitality.
He remarked that the festival embodies brotherhood and the hope for good fortune with the changing seasons.
The event saw a large turnout of senior party leaders, including Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, and several MLAs, all of whom joined in the festivities to pray for unity and happiness among all sections of society in Jammu & Kashmir.
