Bhaderwah–Chamba Road Closed Amid Landslides, Administration Issues Safety Advisory

Doda, Aug 24: The District Administration Doda has issued a public safety and weather advisory after heavy rains triggered multiple landslides, forcing the closure of the Bhaderwah–Chamba road between Km 32 and Km 39.Officials confirmed that restoration work is already underway and heavy machinery has been pressed into service.

However, in view of the dangerous conditions, pilgrims and tourists have been strictly advised not to travel on this route until further notice.

Authorities have also announced that no Yatra vehicles will be allowed for the time being to ensure public safety.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in the region. Residents have been urged to stay indoors, avoid sheltering under trees and electric poles, and secure loose household items.

Special caution has been advised for families with children and elderly members.The advisory also highlighted the risk of floods near rivers, canals, and streams, asking the public to avoid water bodies and keep emergency kits ready.

People have further been cautioned about possible landslides, shooting stones, and waterlogging while travelling.Emergency helplines have been activated with the Control Room Doda available at 1800-180-7122, 01996-233337, 9906320997 and PCR Doda at 7298923100.The administration appealed to the public to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and cooperate with authorities to ensure safety.
