Baramulla Police Solve Kunzar Mobile Shop Theft; Accused Arrested in Delhi

BARAMULLA, MARCH 20, 2026: In a major breakthrough, the Baramulla Police have successfully solved a significant theft case involving a mobile phone shop in the Kunzar area, leading to an arrest made as far away as the national capital.

The investigation began following a formal complaint lodged by Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Darhama, who reported that on the night of March 7, 2026, unidentified burglars broke into his shop at Mohamadia Complex.

The thieves reportedly decamped with approximately 20 mobile phones, a laptop, and ₹5,000 in cash, prompting the registration of FIR No. 26/2026 at Police Station Kunzar.

Utilizing a combination of meticulous CCTV footage analysis and advanced technical surveillance, police investigators successfully identified the prime suspect as Rahil Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Gonipora, Chanpora.

Acting on precise intelligence, a specialized police team was dispatched to Delhi, where they successfully apprehended the accused. At the time of his arrest, officials recovered 13 of the stolen mobile phones and the missing laptop from his possession.

While the accused is currently in custody, further investigations are ongoing to retrieve the remaining stolen property. In light of this incident, the J&K Police have once again urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to their local authorities.
