Baramulla Police Seize Vehicle Purchased from Illicit Drug Proceeds in Major NDPS Crackdown
BARAMULLA, APRIL 02: As part of a relentless campaign to dismantle the economic foundations of drug syndicates, the Baramulla Police have officially attached a Maruti Alto-800 car (registration number JK05K-7701) linked to a notorious narcotics trafficking network.
The vehicle is tied to Abdul Ahad Magray, a habitual offender from Sharai, who is currently implicated in multiple cases including FIR No. 55/2014 and FIR No. 74/2024 under the NDPS and Excise Acts at Police Station Kunzer.
Police investigations revealed that the car was acquired using “proceeds of crime” generated through the illicit sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. In a deliberate attempt to evade legal scrutiny and hide the actual ownership, Magray had strategically registered the vehicle in his son’s name.
Authorities identified Magray as a repeat offender whose persistent illegal activities have significantly contributed to the rise of drug abuse among local youth, posing a severe threat to the social fabric of the region.
By attaching these assets, the Baramulla Police aim to send a definitive warning that they will not only prosecute offenders but also strip them of any wealth or property amassed through criminal ventures.
This action reaffirms the department’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace and disrupting the financial networks of peddlers.
Police officials have further appealed to the general public to continue providing cooperation and information to help purge society of the narcotics trade.
