Baramulla Police Seize Two Tippers for Illegal Stone Mining and Transportation

BARAMULLA: 05 Jan 2026:-In a decisive move to curb the depletion of local resources, a joint enforcement team comprising the Baramulla Police from Police Post Old Town and the Geology & Mining Department intercepted and seized two tippers involved in the illegal transportation of stones today.

The vehicles, registered under numbers JK05B-2231 and JK05A-4546, were caught transporting stones that had been extracted without the required legal permits or environmental clearances. Following the seizure, authorities initiated formal legal proceedings against the violators under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD Act).

This operation is part of an ongoing, intensified drive by the Baramulla Police to dismantle illegal mining networks that threaten the ecological balance of the region. Law enforcement officials have reaffirmed their commitment to strict environmental protection and have appealed to the general public to assist in these efforts by reporting any suspicious mining or transportation activities to the authorities immediately.
