Baramulla Police Save Multiple Lives in Heroic Rescue Operations Amid Heavy Snowfall

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 27, 2026 — In a series of life-saving interventions, the Baramulla Police demonstrated extraordinary humanitarian commitment by rescuing citizens trapped in life-threatening situations caused by intense snowfall.

In one critical operation, the Kreeri Police and Wagoora units responded to an emergency call from Watergam, where a pregnant woman required urgent medical evacuation. Navigating through treacherous, snow-clogged roads and extreme weather, the police team successfully transported her to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kreeri, ensuring she received timely maternal care.

The police force’s rapid response extended to multiple other emergencies across the district today. Officers from Police Post Wagoora successfully rescued Abdul Rehman Shah of Mongam, who had been pinned under a collapsed, snow-laden shed, and rushed him to medical facilities.

In a particularly high-stakes rescue at Khan Mohalla, Thindma, a two-year-old girl who had fallen unconscious was saved by a team led by DySP Operations Kreeri. Because the steep, slushy slopes were inaccessible to ambulances and private vehicles, officers manually evacuated the child to SDH Kreeri, where her condition is now reported as stable.

Baramulla Police have reiterated their 24/7 availability, urging the public to reach out to local units immediately for assistance during this severe winter spell.
