Baramulla IPPI Drive: DC Minga Sherpa Launches Pulse Polio Campaign to Immunize Over 1.6 Lakh Children
BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 21: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, officially inaugurated the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign today by administering life-saving polio drops to a child at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Baramulla. This district-wide initiative aims to achieve 100 percent immunization coverage for 1,63,587 children in the 0–5 years age group.
To ensure the campaign’s success, the district administration has secured over 2.07 lakh OPV doses and established 849 dedicated Pulse Polio booths across various blocks, ensuring that every family has easy access to the vaccine.The massive health operation is backed by a robust workforce of 1,775 health workers, 1,293 ASHAs, and 2,232 Anganwadi Workers, all working under the close monitoring of 170 supervisors.
Highlighting the importance of the drive, DC Minga Sherpa urged parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s health by visiting the nearest booths. He emphasized that coordinated efforts between healthcare teams and the public are essential to sustaining India’s polio-free status, reaffirming the local administration’s dedication to providing comprehensive healthcare and protecting future generations from preventable diseases.
