Baramulla District Police Issue Vital Traffic Diversion Advisory for Srinagar–Baramulla NH-44

BARAMULLA, J&K — March 3, 2026 In response to the current security situation and the potential for large public gatherings, the Baramulla District Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic diversion plan on the Srinagar–Baramulla stretch of National Highway 44 (NH-44).

This precautionary measure aims to prevent severe traffic congestion and maintain public order across the district. Effective immediately, vehicles traveling from Baramulla toward Srinagar are directed to follow a route through Sangrama, Putkhah, Choora, Hygam, Rengi, Hamrey, Sumbal, and Shalteng.

Conversely, Srinagar-based commuters heading to Baramulla must use the Shalteng–Sumbal–Hamrey–Rengi corridor. Travelers destined for the tourist hubs of Tangmarg and Gulmarg are advised to proceed via the Srinagar–Shalteng–Narbal–Magam–Kunzer route.

To ensure the seamless execution of this transition, a significant number of traffic personnel have been deployed at all critical junctions and diversion points. Local authorities have instructed Incharge Traffic Officers to maintain close coordination with the SDPO Pattan to address any logistical bottlenecks.

The District Police have urged the general public to adhere strictly to these new routes and cooperate with law enforcement on the ground.

For those requiring urgent assistance or clarification regarding the diversion, the police have provided a dedicated helpline at +91 95967 67706. These regulations will remain in force until further notice to ensure the safety and convenience of all commuters in the region.
