BANDIPORA, Feb 05, 2026 – The District Administration Bandipora has announced the complete closure of the Sumbal–Chewa/Naninara inner link road effective from 7:00 AM on February 06, 2026. This decision comes in response to the ongoing construction of a vital new bridge at Naninara.
While foundation work on the Sumbal side is complete, upcoming excavation on the Safapora side involves loose soil conditions, creating a high risk of road caving. To prioritize public safety and allow the executing agency to work unimpeded, the inner link road will remain shut on both sides for all vehicular traffic until further notice.Commuters who previously used this route are advised to strictly follow the alternate traffic plan via Barsoo, Ganderbal, which has already been notified by the authorities.
The administration has directed concerned departments to install necessary barricades and clear signage at the site to prevent confusion. Officials emphasized that because the excavation work will occupy the entire width of the road, there is no space for safe passage.
The District Administration has sought public cooperation during this period to ensure both the safety of travelers and the timely completion of this critical infrastructure project.
