BANDIPORA, Feb 11, 2026 — As part of an intensified crackdown on narcotics, the Bandipora Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler in the Hajin area today, recovering a significant haul of contraband. The operation, led by the SHO of Police Station Hajin, was launched following specific intelligence regarding the movement of illegal substances.
A tactical checkpoint (naka) was established at Baharabad Hajin, where officers intercepted a suspicious pedestrian carrying a nylon bag.During a thorough search of the suspect’s belongings, the police team recovered a total of 5.8 kilograms of contraband, consisting of 5 kilograms of bhang powder and 800 grams of charas powder.
The accused has been identified as Jamsheed Ahmad Wagay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wagay and a resident of Hakabara Hajin. Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 15/2026 at Police Station Hajin, citing relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The Bandipora Police have reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking and are currently investigating the suspect’s links to larger distribution networks. Authorities have urged the local community to remain vigilant and share any information related to substance abuse to assist in making the district drug-free.
