Bandipora Administration Launches District-Wide Social Audit of Anganwadi Centres to Enhance ICDS Transparency

Bandipora 18 December :- In a significant move to bolster accountability and improve child welfare services, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, has initiated a comprehensive district-wide social audit of Anganwadi Centres. This initiative is designed to evaluate the implementation of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme through a participatory process that bridges the gap between government officials and community stakeholders.

To ensure the audit meets high standards of accuracy, the Social Audit Unit conducted specialized capacity-building sessions and “training of trainers,” equipping officers with the necessary skills to conduct standardized and effective reviews across the district. The audit process emphasizes community involvement, bringing together pregnant and lactating mothers, volunteers, and former Panchayat representatives to verify service delivery at the grassroots level.

A key focus of the exercise is the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiative, where auditors assess the quality of supplementary nutrition, the maintenance of kitchen facilities, and the effectiveness of early childhood education.

Findings from these sessions are shared transparently in public meetings and recorded in structured questionnaires to ensure every detail is documented. By providing a platform for women and educators to share direct feedback, the Bandipora administration aims to refine service mechanisms and ensure that the vital components of nutrition and education are delivered effectively to every child in the district.
