UDHAMPUR SEPTEMBER 29,2025: As part of the nationwide celebrations of sewa Parv being observed from 17th September to 2nd October 2025, the NSS and NCC Units of Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur organized a series of activities aimed at spreading awareness and instilling the spirit of service, social responsibility, and nations building among students. A wide range of activities were carried out during the fortnight-long celebration.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, Principal, of the college congratulated the winners and appreciated the active involvement of NSS volunteers and NCC cadets in the events Conducted under Sewa Parv. She highlighted that the youth of today are the torchbearers of tomorrow and must lead the movement against social evils like drug abuse. She also motivated the students to continue working with the same dedication and enthusiasm for the betterment of society, in line with the true spirit of Sewa Parv.Poster Making Competition on the theme “Nasha Mukti” witnessed enthusiastic participation from cadets and volunteers. The posters reflected the participants’ concern for the future of youth and their resolve to build a drug-free society. The event was judged by Dr. Geetanjali Rajput (Head, Department of English), Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma (Head, Department of Mathematics), and Prof. Safina Chowdhary, who appreciated the creativity and social messages conveyed through the artwork.
The winners were 1st Position:Cdt. Pinky Devi, 2nd Position: Kajal and 3rd Position: Kiran Kumari NSS volunteers of the college actively participated in the marathon race Organised by NGO Dogra Kranti Dal on 21st September 2025 from Domail Chowk to Dabbar Chowk, raising awareness about fitness,discipline, and social commitment.
As a part of the Sewa Parv and in connection with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the cadets of GCW Udhampur Organised and performed a Nukkad Natak on campus.The main objective of the programme was to spread awareness among students and the community about the ill effects of drug abuse and to motivate the youth to stay away from such destructive habits. Through powerful dialogues, expressive acting, and impactful messages, the cadets highlighted the social, psychological, and health consequences of addiction while encouraging people to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.The performance drew wide appreciation from the audience, who were deeply moved by the cadets’ efforts and creativity. The initiative not only served as an awareness campaign but also reflected the spirit of NCC cadets in contributing towards building a drug-free India.The event concluded with a pledge by the cadets and audience to work collectively towards eradicating drug menace from society and to promote the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
NSS volunteers and NCC cadets also collectively took the pledge to contribute towards a drug-free India, reaffirming their commitment to the nationwide campaign against substance abuse.These activities were coordinated under the supervision of ANO Lt. Dr.Kusha Sharma and NSS Programme Officer Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, who guided the students with dedication and encouraged them to shoulder their social responsibilities with sincerity. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks.
