Awantipora | December 31, 2025The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Awantipora have marked 2025 as a year of significant milestones, characterized by robust law enforcement and extensive community engagement.
In a major blow to the narcotics trade, the district police registered 62 NDPS cases and arrested 96 individuals. To dismantle the financial network of drug traffickers, 12 peddlers were booked under the PIT NDPS Act, and four properties valued at ₹1.56 crore were officially attached. Seizures for the year included a diverse range of contraband, such as heroin, cannabis powder, and poppy straw, alongside the destruction of illegal poppy and bhang cultivation across 70 kanals of land.
On the security front, Awantipora Police remained steadfast in their counter-terror operations, neutralizing three terrorists and arresting one in a high-stakes encounter. The department successfully busted three terror modules and took significant preventive measures by binding down 320 over-ground workers (OGWs) and 408 miscreants under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and other legal provisions.
Additionally, the police intensified their fight against environmental crimes, registering 123 FIRs against illegal mining, which led to the seizure of 251 vehicles and the arrest of 408 persons involved in the illicit extraction of minerals.The police also demonstrated high efficiency in modern policing and humanitarian service.
The cybercrime cell handled 420 complaints, recovering over ₹28 lakh for victims of financial fraud through rapid technical intervention. Beyond crime fighting, the force played a pivotal role in disaster management, leading rescue operations during floods and providing essential relief to affected families.
Through 59 Civic Action Programmes, including sports tournaments and cultural events, and the successful recovery of a centuries-old stone sculpture for heritage preservation, the Awantipora Police have significantly strengthened their bond with the local community while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against unlawful activities.
