AWANTIPORA, February 12, 2026 — As part of an intensified drive to eliminate illegal mining activities, the Awantipora Police have seized three tractors used for the unauthorized transportation of minerals. The operation, conducted by a team from the Tral Police Station led by Inspector Tajamul Islam, targeted individuals involved in the illegal extraction and movement of natural resources within the district.The seized vehicles were identified by their registration numbers: JK13H-3198, JK13C-9305, and JK13A-9352.
Authorities have identified the suspects as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Tariq Ahmad Mir, and Asif Ali Bhat, all of whom are residents of Nowdal, Tral.
Following the seizures, a formal case has been registered at the Tral Police Station under FIR No. 09/2026, citing relevant sections of the law.
A comprehensive investigation has been initiated to further probe the illegal mining network in the region.
