Assam Rifles Secures Overall Second Position at 44th All India Police Equestrian Championship
TEKANPUR, April 10, 2026 — Assam Rifles delivered a stellar performance at the recently concluded 44th All India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet 2025–26, held at the BSF Academy in Tekanpur, Gwalior.
Demonstrating superior horsemanship and grit, the contingent secured the overall second position and proudly claimed the Runners-Up Trophy.
The team’s impressive medal haul included 3 Gold, 7 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals, supplemented by 7 fourth-place finishes, marking one of the force’s most successful outings in the national competition.
Individual excellence was a highlight of the meet, as Deepanshu Sheoran was officially adjudged the Best Rider of the Championship for his technical precision and skill.
Adding to the force’s accolades, the horse “Azad” earned the prestigious title of Best Horse, underscoring the high standards of training and animal husbandry within the unit. The victory solidifies the reputation of the Assam Rifles as a premier force in competitive equestrian sports among India’s central police and paramilitary organizations.
Celebrating the milestone, Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire team for their exemplary display of professionalism.
