Assam Rifles Neutralize Security Threats in Manipur: 10 Terrorists Apprehended and ₹5 Crore Narcotics Seized
IMPHAL, Jan 19: In a significant blow to insurgent networks and drug trafficking syndicates, Assam Rifles, in close coordination with the Manipur Police and the Indian Army, successfully executed a week-long series of high-intensity joint operations across Manipur.
Conducted between January 11 and 17, 2026, these intelligence-based raids spanned the Imphal East, Imphal West, and Bishnupur districts. The crackdown resulted in the apprehension of 10 active cadres belonging to multiple proscribed groups, including the PLA, PREPAK (PRO), RPF/PLA, KYKL (SOREPA), and KCP (Noyon). This coordinated effort highlights the unwavering commitment of security forces to restoring stability and the rule of law in the sensitive border state.
Beyond the arrests, the mission yielded a substantial recovery of war-like stores and lethal weaponry, including a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), several pistols, hand grenades, live ammunition, and sophisticated communication equipment. Simultaneously, under the specialized ‘Op Lamzang–III’, security forces dealt a major blow to the “narco-terror” nexus by seizing 2.5 kg of suspected Heroin No. 4, valued at approximately ₹5 crore in the international market.
In addition to the narcotics and arms, various vehicles, mobile phones, and a significant amount of cash were confiscated. All apprehended individuals and the recovered contraband have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings and investigation.
