Assam Rifles Honors Braveheart Rifleman Ramu Thapa with Solemn Wreath-Laying Ceremony in Tamenglong, Manipur

TAMENGLONG, MANIPUR — March 11, 2026: In a poignant tribute to one of its fallen heroes, the Assam Rifles organized a solemn wreath-laying ceremony on March 10, 2026, to honor the memory of Rifleman Ramu Thapa.

Held in the Tamenglong district of Manipur, the event marked the anniversary of the valiant soldier’s supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty on March 10, 1968. Originally hailing from Mizoram, Rifleman Thapa is remembered for his exceptional courage and unwavering devotion to the nation during a high-stakes encounter with Mizo insurgents at Sairang.
