Assam Rifles Enhances Rural Healthcare in Nagaland: Ambulance Dedicated to Dimapur Pensioner’s Union

DIMAPUR, NAGALAND — In a major step toward strengthening medical infrastructure in remote regions, the Assam Rifles officially handed over a fully equipped ambulance to the Pensioner’s Union Dimapur during a ceremony held at Phaipijang on March 28, 2026.

This vital “Lifeline on Wheels” is designed to address the critical and long-standing need for reliable medical transportation in the area, specifically focusing on providing timely emergency care and transit for elderly pensioners and local villagers who often face logistical challenges in reaching healthcare centers.

The ceremonial handover was conducted by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of 6 Sector Assam Rifles, who presented the vehicle in the presence of union members and residents of Phaipijang.

During the event, the DIG acknowledged the immense contributions of the veteran community to the nation, emphasizing that this initiative is a token of gratitude and a practical solution to rural health disparities. The new ambulance is expected to significantly reduce response times during medical emergencies, ensuring that life-saving treatment is more accessible to the local population.

True to their credo as the “Sentinels of the Northeast,” the Assam Rifles continue to lead community welfare and development projects across Nagaland and neighboring states. By prioritizing health and emergency mobility, the force reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of the people it serves.

This latest contribution is part of a broader mission to bridge the gap between remote villages and modern medical facilities, fostering a stronger bond between the security forces and the civilian community.
