CHANDEL, Feb 15, 2026 — Under the proactive outreach of Operation Sadbhavana, Assam Rifles has significantly bolstered water security for border communities in Manipur by distributing high-capacity water storage tanks of 1,000 and 2,000 liters across six key villages in Chandel District.
This critical humanitarian initiative directly supports nearly 900 residents in New Samtal, Bonse, K Selhai, New Lajang, Yangnomphai, and Aivomjang, areas that have long struggled with severe seasonal water scarcity.
By addressing the challenges faced during the dry winter months when natural springs and streams frequently run dry, the Assam Rifles have ensured that these remote populations have access to reliable storage solutions, reinforcing their commitment to community welfare and the “Friends of the Hill People” mission in the North East.
