Assam Rifles and DRI Seize ₹45 Crore Worth of Yaba Tablets in Major Tripura Drug Bust
AGARTALA, Feb 17, 2026 – In a major blow to trans-border narcotics smuggling, the Assam Rifles, operating under the Spear Corps, joined forces with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) to execute a high-stakes intercept in Tripura.
Acting on precise, credible intelligence, the joint task force conducted a targeted operation in the Mungiakami area of Khowai District.
The mission resulted in the discovery of a massive consignment of 4,50,000 Yaba tablets cleverly concealed within a truck. With an estimated market value of approximately ₹45 crore, this seizure marks one of the most significant drug hauls in the region in recent months.
The operation also led to the immediate apprehension of one individual found in charge of the vehicle. Security agencies are currently interrogating the suspect to uncover the broader supply chain and determine the intended destination of the synthetic drugs.
This successful coordination between the Assam Rifles and the DRI underscores the intensifying crackdown on the “Golden Triangle” trafficking routes that pass through India’s Northeast.
Authorities have handed over the seized contraband and the suspect to the local police for further legal proceedings under the NDPS Act, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free region.
