ANTF Kashmir Cracks Down on Interstate Drug Trafficking: Two Punjab-Based Peddlers Arrested with Heroin
SRINAGAR, J&K — February 24, 2026In a significant blow to interstate narcotics networks, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir successfully apprehended two drug peddlers from Punjab in separate high-stakes operations across Srinagar and Budgam.
Acting on precise intelligence, the ANTF team first intercepted Ajay Kumar, a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab, in the Gangbugh area of Srinagar, recovering 42 grams of heroin from his possession. Initial investigations suggest the contraband was transported from Punjab for local distribution.
A second operation in District Budgam led to the arrest of Jhon Masih, also from Gurdaspur, who was found in possession of 37 grams of heroin. In total, 79 grams of the illicit substance were seized, marking another victory in the sustained drive to cleanse the region of dangerous narcotics.
Following these arrests, the ANTF has registered formal cases under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act (FIR No. 02/2026 and 03/2026) at the ANTF Kashmir Police Station.
Both suspects are currently in custody as investigators work to dismantle the broader supply chain, focusing on identifying both “forward and backward linkages” to uncover the masterminds behind this illicit trade.
The ANTF Jammu & Kashmir has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace and has called upon the general public to remain vigilant. By sharing credible information with law enforcement, citizens can play a vital role in safeguarding the youth and ensuring a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
