ANTF Kashmir Arrests Narco-Absconder in Major 7kg Charas Trafficking Case
SRINAGAR, JANUARY 02, 2026 — In a major breakthrough for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) J&K, a high-profile female absconder has been apprehended in Srinagar after evading arrest for three years. The accused, identified as Tamana Ashraf, daughter of Mohammad Ashraf and a resident of Batamaloo, was a primary suspect in a high-stakes narcotics case (FIR No. 10/2023) registered at the ANTF Jammu Police Station under the NDPS Act. The case dates back to the interception of a significant shipment of over 7 kilograms of Charas, which was being illegally trafficked to Mumbai through courier services.
Following the initial bust, Ashraf had successfully eluded law enforcement by frequently shifting her hideouts across multiple Indian states. However, the ANTF’s persistent intelligence-led operations finally closed in on her location.
Utilizing sustained surveillance and precise tracking, the task force successfully traced and arrested her from her residence in Batamaloo on New Year’s Day, 01.01.2026.
The operation was executed seamlessly, marking a significant victory in the force’s ongoing crackdown on inter-state drug syndicates. With the accused now in custody and set to be produced before a competent court, the ANTF has intensified its investigation to dismantle the broader network.
Officials are currently probing forward and backward linkages, with a specific focus on the role of courier service vulnerabilities used for drug smuggling.
ANTF J&K has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics trafficking, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain a drug-free society.
