Jammu, April 13, 2026: In a significant breakthrough under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized approximately 18 kg of poppy straw.

Acting on precise intelligence regarding the transport of narcotics, an ANTF special team established a coordinated checkpoint on National Highway-44 near IIM Jammu.

During the operation, officers intercepted an Etios cab with registration number JK02AU 9945. A thorough search of the vehicle’s trunk led to the discovery of the contraband.

The driver, identified as Shokat Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed and a resident of Kanger, Bhalwal, was immediately taken into custody.Initial investigations suggest that the accused had procured the narcotics from the Kashmir Valley with the intent to distribute them among the youth in Jammu for illegal profit.

A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the ANTF Police Station in Jammu. Authorities are currently conducting a detailed probe to map out the entire supply chain, including forward and backward linkages, to dismantle the broader smuggling network.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, the ANTF has urged the public to share any information regarding narcotics to assist the police in eradicating drug abuse from society.
