Amritsar Police Bust Cross-Border Smuggling Syndicate; Six Arrested with Rare Turkish Pistols and Heroin
AMRITSAR, PUNJAB — March 15, 2026 — In a major blow to organized crime and narco-terrorism, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a sophisticated cross-border arms and drug smuggling module. The operation resulted in the arrest of six individuals and the recovery of 3.513 kg of heroin along with a significant cache of weaponry.
Among the seized items were 60 live cartridges and six high-end pistols, including the rare PX 5.7×28 mm TISAS Turkey series, highlighting the high-level nature of the network. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were operating under the direction of a Pakistan-based handler to facilitate the flow of contraband near the Indo-Pak border.
Following the breakthrough, FIRs have been lodged at the Gate Hakima, Chheharta, and Verka police stations. Punjab Police is currently conducting further inquiries to trace all forward and backward linkages, reaffirming their zero-tolerance stance against illegal trafficking and organized smuggling networks.
