Amritsar, Jan 27: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against organized crime by dismantling a cross-border narco-arms smuggling module.
During the high-stakes operation, security forces apprehended four operatives and seized a substantial haul, including 1.5 kg of heroin, two sophisticated pistols (one 9mm and one .30 bore), 34 live 9mm cartridges, and ₹1.98 lakh in drug money.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were operating in active connivance with foreign-based handlers, utilizing social media platforms to maintain contact with Pakistan-based smugglers.
Following digital directives from these handlers, the module received illegal consignments of weaponry and narcotics, which were subsequently distributed to various locations across Punjab.
An FIR has been formally registered at the Civil Lines Police Station in Amritsar, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to map out the network’s forward and backward linkages.
This crackdown underscores the Punjab Police’s ongoing commitment to dismantling smuggling networks and maintaining regional security.
