AMRITSAR, Feb 9, 2026 – Under the ongoing state-wide crackdown “Gangstran Te Vaar”, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully dismantled a major cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling syndicate.
During an intelligence-led operation, security forces arrested five key suspects and seized a significant cache of contraband, including six sophisticated pistols, 10 live cartridges, and 115 grams of heroin. Additionally, police recovered ₹11.90 lakh in suspected drug money, dealing a heavy blow to the financial network of the module.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the apprehended individuals were actively operating within a sophisticated cross-border network, facilitating the illegal trafficking of weapons and drugs into the region.
Following the arrests, a formal FIR has been registered at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar, under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the NDPS Act.
Authorities are currently probing both forward and backward linkages to identify higher-ups in the supply chain. This operation reaffirms the Punjab Police’s commitment to breaking narco-terror networks and achieving the vision of a Drug-Free Punjab.
