Amritsar Police Bust Cross-Border Illegal Arms Module; Two Arrested with Sophisticated Weapons

AMRITSAR, FEB 22 :- In a significant blow to transnational crime, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully dismantled a cross-border illegal arms module, apprehending two suspects involved in a sophisticated smuggling network.

During the high-stakes operation, law enforcement officials recovered five sophisticated pistols and 10 live cartridges from the accused. This breakthrough underscores the ongoing efforts of the Punjab Police to intercept illicit hardware before it reaches the hands of regional gangs or anti-national elements.

Preliminary investigations have revealed a digital trail linking the apprehended individuals to Pakistan-based smugglers via various social media platforms. The accused were allegedly acting as local facilitators, managing the logistics of illegal arms consignments and distributing them to criminal elements based on instructions from across the border.

Following the arrests, an FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar. Authorities are now conducting a deeper probe to trace both forward and backward linkages to completely neutralize the remaining nodes of this illegal arms network.
