Amritsar Counter Intelligence Busts Major Drug Module: 7kg Heroin Seized and Two Arrested
AMRITSAR March 25, 2026In a significant blow to the narcotics trade in Punjab, the Counter Intelligence unit of Amritsar has successfully dismantled a high-profile drug trafficking module.
During a targeted operation, law enforcement officials apprehended two suspects found in possession of 7 kilograms of heroin.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were key players in a sophisticated transport network, responsible for moving large consignments of contraband across the region.
Authorities believe this arrest is a gateway to uncovering a much larger narcotics syndicate operating within the state’s borders.
Following the recovery, a formal First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Police Station in Amritsar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The Punjab Police are now conducting an intensive follow-up investigation to map out the forward and backward linkages of this operation.
By tracing the origin of the drugs and identifying the end-buyers, investigators aim to completely dismantle the supply chain.
This successful crackdown reinforces the state’s unwavering commitment to its “Mission Drug-Free Punjab” and its ongoing battle against organized crime.
