Amrit Pal Singh IPS Takes Charge as SSP Udhampur; Prioritizes Public Safety and Anti-Drug Drive
UDHAMPUR, April 10, 2026 — Amrit Pal Singh, an officer of the Indian Police Service, officially assumed the role of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur today.
Upon his arrival at the District Police Headquarters, he was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and a warm welcome from the district’s senior police leadership.
Following the formal takeover, the new SSP convened an exhaustive introductory meeting at the District Police Lines (DPL) to assess the current security landscape, including the prevailing law and order situation and crime statistics across the region.
During the session, which was attended by supervisory officers, SDPOs, and SHOs, Singh was briefed on the district’s primary challenges and operational priorities. In his maiden address to the force, he emphasized the necessity of maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity.
He directed officers to adopt a “people-friendly” policing model, specifically focusing on the swift redressal of public grievances.The SSP further outlined a strict roadmap for the district, identifying the eradication of the drug menace and the neutralization of militancy as top priorities. He urged his team to uphold the rule of law with transparency and dedication.
The high-level meeting saw participation from a wide range of officials, including DySP Headquarters, SDPOs from Ramnagar and Chenani, and specialized officers from the Police Components of Basantgarh, Latti, and Udhampur, signaling a unified front under the new district command.
