DODA, JANUARY 02, 2026 — A major security threat was averted in the Dessa area of Doda late Friday evening after alert Village Defence Group (VDG) members successfully foiled a terror attack attempt.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 7:00 PM, three suspected terrorists attempted to target a residential house in Dawalkund village. Responding with swiftness and courage, the VDG members opened fire on the suspects, forcing the attackers to abandon their plan and flee into the surrounding area.
Following the incident, security forces were immediately notified and the entire region has been placed on high alert. While no casualties have been officially reported, the prompt action by the local VDG is being credited with preventing a potentially deadly confrontation.
Search and cordon operations are expected to be intensified as security agencies track the movement of the fleeing suspects. Further details regarding the identity of the attackers and the scope of the operation are currently awaited.
